New Lotterywest board appoints

  • New commissioner to the Lotterywest board to take up appointment immediately 
  • Mr Stephen Carre is a successful small business owner and brings strong retail acumen to the Lotterywest board.

Premier Colin Barnett today announced the appointment of a new commissioner to the Lotterywest board.

Mr Stephen Carre, who will take up his appointment immediately, is the Managing Director of Farm to Table which supports famers to distribute their products to independent retailers and supermarkets.

“Mr Carre brings a wealth of relevant knowledge and experience to the Lotterywest board, particularly in the retail and small business sector,” Mr Barnett said.

“In addition to running his own small business since 2008, he has almost 20 years ’ experience in the finance industry, including almost 10 years at Bankwest undertaking senior roles in financial service management and consulting.” 

While working for Bankwest, roles carried out by Mr Carre included Business Risk Manager, Senior Project Manager, Senior Commercial Banker, Head of Alliances and the Director of Personal Finance.

He also has extensive consultancy experience working with local and international companies such as Halifax Bank of Scotland Australia, Carreker International, Grist Consulting Group and Churchill Capital.

Mr Carre holds a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University, a Masters of Business from Murdoch University and is a Fellow of both the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. 

He has a strong interest in the community sector and has worked with organisation’s supporting homelessness, the disadvantaged and the elderly.

The Premier also expressed his appreciation to outgoing board member Mr Ray Bennett who completed his term in December. 

“Mr Bennett who has been on the Lotterywest Board since 2007 has served during a time of record business success and innovative grant making to the WA community,” he said.

“On behalf of the State Government and the community I thank him for his valuable contribution.”

  • WA is the only State where the money raised from lottery products is distributed directly back to the community to support not-for-profit organisations that work to enhance the quality of life for all Western Australians. 
  • In 2012/13, Lotterywest raised a record $274.5 million for the WA community.
