The Asia Pacific Lottery Association (APLA), together with host lottery The Government Lottery Office (GLO), are excited to announce the theme for the 2023 Regional Conference to be held 24-27 October at The Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
‘New Thinking for a Sustainable Future’ will explore fresh ways of embracing organisational and industry transformation amid rapid change globally and in our home markets.
“In an era where change is the only constant, we must embrace agility, think proactively and seek inspiration beyond the horizons of the lotteries industry to make sure we continue to deliver for our customers and stakeholders,” APLA Chairman, Sue van der Merwe said.
“Ensuring that we stay attuned to these rapid transformations, and capitalising on emerging trends and technological advancements that can benefit our organisations, helps to guarantee the sustained growth and relevance of our industry in this dynamic world.”
Key themes of the 2023 APLA Regional Conference will be: Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Distribution Channels.
Sustainability is a vital component of success for organisations. For different organisations sustainability will mean different things – it could be environmentally focused, financially focused, or sustainability from a customer care or societal standpoint. Embracing sustainable practices and incorporating them into long-term strategies is not just an ethical consideration, it is also a smart business move.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionise the lotteries industry. By analysing massive amounts of data, AI-driven systems can unearth valuable insights into player preferences, behaviour, and patterns – enabling targeted marketing strategies and enhanced player protections. By leveraging AI, the lotteries industry can uncover new opportunities, optimise decision making, and provide a seamless and exciting experience for players, leading to sustainable growth.
Distribution of our products is another area where change is rapid, but keeping the customer at the centre of our strategies can serve as a guiding principle in driving the design, implementation, and innovation of distribution channels. Offering multiple distribution options, integrating online and offline channels and providing convenient purchasing methods are ways to create the kind of seamless customer experiences that ensure lotteries remain relevant and engaging in a world where there is strong competition for discretionary spending dollars.
These themes and more will be explored by innovative and inspiring business and industry specialists and leaders across a diverse program of keynote speeches, conversation sessions and other interactive activities designed to connect and engage delegates.
In addition, the World Lottery Association (WLA) will hold its Executive Committee meeting ahead of the event with an update to be provided at the conference on preparations for next year’s World Lottery Summit in Paris and the status of the Women in Lotteries Leadership program and its application by The Lottery Corporation.
We are also delighted to offer a range of social events over the four-day program to give delegates the opportunity to see the sights of Bangkok, experience its rich and interesting culture and cuisine, and network with peers and friends from across the Asia Pacific region.
The release of the full Business Program will follow soon, so stay tuned for further details.
We look forward to welcoming you to Thailand in October!
