Wrap-up of the 2022 APLA Regional Conference

The 2022 APLA Regional Conference took place in Singapore from 5-8 September with the theme of ‘Innovation in a Post-COVID World’.

A diverse and fulsome 2-day business program was activated and elevated by the superb calibre of speakers from around the globe.

Through keynote presentations and in conversation sessions, we explored the shifts in our industry and external environment that are rapid and far-reaching.

We discussed the need for greater focus on our customers, due to their changing expectations in an ever-changing world.

We were also reminded that brands and reputation are critical. We need to build strong brands with positive attributes, and we must be clear on how we want to define our brands and what we stand for. In addition to this, it was emphasised that ESG is not just about driving revenue or reducing costs, but the impact we make.

On the technology front, we were prompted to open our minds to experts outside our industry to better understand the application of technologies such as blockchain and AI.

Furthermore, we acknowledged that innovation is a mindset. We need to have enquiring minds and think about how to do things better. As an industry, we need to innovate to be sustainable.

It wasn’t all business, though, with delegates enjoying the opportunity to come together in-person for the first time since 2019.

A series of social and networking events allowed us to catch up at the Opening Dinner at the sensational conference venue – the InterContintental Singapore; the Closing Dinner at the Singapore Zoo with its famous night safari; and the Networking Day at the Flower Dome at the spectacular Gardens by the Bay complex.

A conference such as this is a success for a few key reasons.

The first is the participation of delegates. APLA thanks everyone who attended and brought this event to life. We hope you gained valuable insights from the program that you can take back into your organisations and make this wonderful industry even better.

APLA also thanks our sponsors, whose support is invaluable to hosting events such as these. Thank you to our Gold Sponsors – Pollard Banknote, Scientific Games and IGT, as well as our Silver Sponsors – Carmanah Signs and Jumbo Interactive.

And finally, thank you to the organising team who worked tirelessly in the months leading up to the event, and our volunteers for generously pitching in during the conference.

We work in an amazing industry that makes a positive difference across the world, and with the connections and conversations that took place at the 2022 APLA Regional Conference, we are confident that we will continue to thrive.

We hope to see everyone again at the next APLA event!
