The 2023 APLA/WLA Seminar took place in Hong Kong from 16-18 May with the theme of ‘Leading Through Transformation’.
Through keynote presentations and in conversation sessions we heard from sporting champions, business leaders, lottery operators and suppliers on topics of business transformation and resilience.
Together we explored responding to competition, the challenges presented by shifts in the global economy, and the need to innovate when enhancing and developing products and services. We heard about the escalating pace and impact of technological change, ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) as an enabler for transformation, responding to illegal lottery operators, and how to retain and attract talent and develop leadership capabilities in our people.
We also had interesting and exciting opportunities to network with colleagues beyond the business program through various social activities including a visit to a charity project supported by our host, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and an evening at the world-famous Happy Valley Racecourse.
Thank you to our host, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the APLA planning team and our delegates for ensuring the success of the Seminar.
Thank you also to the WLA for their support and attendance at the event.
APLA wishes to thank our Gold Sponsors – Pollard Banknote and Scientific Games, as well as our Silver Sponsor – Carmanah Signs. Special thanks goes to two local sponsors who assisted this year with the provision of translation services and morning tea breaks – China Sports Lottery HKJC Info Tech Ltd and China Sports Lottery Printing Co Ltd.
We hope to see everyone again at our next event, the APLA Regional Conference, to be held in October this year in Bangkok, Thailand.
